Yes, it seems like Apple would like people to study up. Marco Arment gives an overview here:

I hope my mom never asks me to explain it to her.

Great post.
I was a little late to the show, my first Mac was a Mac Mini in 2005 - since then I didn't look back. Ulysses was one of my first Mac apps I bought apart from the Apple stuff (iWork, iLife...) - it's still in use (I even bought it a second time when it was published on the MAS). Now, that's commitment, eh?

My point is this: Nobody outside of Apple and some informed Apple-News readers can differentiate between iBooks, eBooks and ePubs. For most people out there, an "iBook" is synonymous with an "eBook".

And that's Apple's fault.

The EULA are completely ok, I don't care or oppose, see?

I don't really get the bruhaha, to be honest. iBooks Author is a free tool that lets you sell your book on Apple's store with no cost for you, and with some free advertising thrown in for good measure.
In doing so, Apple takes the role of the publisher, so why would they allow that book, for which they provided the tool and the platform, to be sold elsewhere?

If you are a professional writer and find a traditional publisher for your books, that publisher can also put it in the iBooks store, as well as other stores.
Everytime Apple does anything, people act like something was taken away from them, when it's always the opposite.

Thanks for the post.... What really intrigues me now is what will happen to these iBooks apps when SOPA and PIPA are completely implemented. Makes you wonder, right? I guess the world is really ending on 2012!! ... Great post by the way!

You can download previous versions of Ulysses from our downloads page. All 2.x updates will be available from the AppStore as well as via the internal updater for previous customers as free updates for 2.x customers. A license transfer to the AppStore is unfortunately not possible.

Apologies if this has already been covered.
If I wish to reinstall version 2 - pre app store, is this still possible? If new versions are to be released on the app store in future is the expectation that this application is re-purchased or is there a way to have the license transferred?
