Ah, bad joke, but here’s the list of fixes and news in the latest version of Standard and Core and Standard and Core. Dang, sorry.
Ulysses 2.0 is running as a promo on MacUpdate — today and throughout the whole weekend. We are very existed about this three-day partnership!
Be sure to grab a copy here.
We have just released Ulysses 2.0.2 via the internal updater Sparkle. This update fixes a couple of smaller issues and bugs, many of them caused by Mac OS X 10.6, Snow Leopard. We are also adding two more languages to Ulysses: Spanish and Norwegian — thanks to Victor M. Solano and Tellef Kvifte!
To get a detailed list of all changes, see the version history. You may directly download the new versions from here:
Update: I forgot to mention that this update also finally fixes the registration problems under Mac OS 10.4 Tiger.
Well, here we are. Ulysses 2.0 is finally out, and apart from a few early hickups with the store, everything seems to go rather smoothly. This may change, of course, once everybody comes rushing in, but so be it. We’re prepared. ;)
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everybdy involved with this rather stupid idea of taking a small software company and turning it around 180 degrees. Max and I had this vague concept, and while it took us far too long to make it happen, we’re very happy with where the Soulmen are today and glad everything worked out just the way it currently does.
Reboot.
Check.
… just wanted to share the status quo here:

You might notice that the disk image icon is still missing.
This is how close we are :)

As we already announced yesterday, Ulysses 2.0 and Ulysses core 2.0 will be released on Wednesday, July 8. This Update hosts a tremendous list of features, refinements and polishes.
One change that we never spoke about and one that has not been brought up so far is the pricing. After six (!!!) years of free Updates, bringing Ulysses 1.0 to 1.6r2, we finally decided to do a paid update.
And we decided to make Ulysses cheaper. Not because we think it’s overpriced or not worth what we charge. It’s rather that we want to make it more affordable for many users. We don’t want people to choose a different application just because of the price.
As of July 8, 2009 this will be the new price tags:
For all Users who purchased after January 1st, 2009 version 2.0 will be a free update. For all others there are two options:

We finally have it.
Here it is — the release candidate for Ulysses 2.0 and Ulysses core 2.0. Please feel free to download it and submit anything you do not like or would like to have in a later version to our bug tracker Mantis.
There are some very small hiccups remaining. We want to make a perfect release this time, please help us in doing so. How to help? It’s quite easy:
1) Go 2) Grab 3) A Copy.

PS: Someone interested in the new pricing?
Dear readers,
we are proud to announce hereby that we are proud that on the sixth anniversary of the first public release of Ulysses 1.0 we proudly announce that the final release date for Ulysses 2.0 will be in exactly one week.
In short: Yep, we’ve made it. We are nearly done. Actually we wanted to have the release today, but you know… The website wasn’t yet quite finished. Now it’s the 8th of July, 2009.
And as it’s our sixth birthday today, we also have a little present for all of you: Later today there will be the release candidate for Ulysses 2.0. Available here and through the internal update mechanism.
Cheers, Max

Puh, these days are just packed. Laying finishing touches on some interface elements, squashing late bugs, collecting localizations, squashing new bugs, creating PR letters and product information pages, double-checking new Help content, the new registration system, squashing bugs, the new updater (works!), and finally moving every little bit over to SOULMEN CI.
Apart from standard pre-release craziness, you won’t believe how much blue-tec stuff has amassed over the years, and how much work it is to completely switch out company names and logos and colors and all… no going back, of course. :)
But not much time to blog-post, either.
So, release date. You want a release date? A fixed and firm release date? And a price tag? Standard price and update-fee? Like… Ulysses 2.0, available at the-soulmen.com, beginning… beginning… beginning, uhm, or rather starting at… at…
Beta 6 is up, go “Check for Updates…”
This release is the feature-complete. We might change the look of some buttons, might add or modify a shortcut here or there, might even juggle some menu items around — but that’s about it.
Preferences will need to get cleaned up, some interface strings have errors. Localizations are incomplete, and the Help does not reflect the change from 1.7 to 2.0 or much of the new features, for that matter. The links in the Help menu still lead to unfinished webpages.
Other than that, this will be it.
Happy testing, you know where to report. ;)
BTW: The release version will include several project templates as well as five to six default themes for use via Fonts & Colors. We might even include some freely available fonts, though this is still undecided (e.g. Gentium).
