Ah, bad joke, but here’s the list of fixes and news in the latest version of Standard and Core and Standard and Core. Dang, sorry.

Removed additional Edit menu

Crashes during opening projects on 10.4
[Ed: just to be clear... we fixed that]

Fixed Portuguese, Italian Localization

Pasting text to console mode notes window no longer screws colors

Fixed a bug which causes a hang during a LaTeX export, if a document ends with a footnote mark.

Fixed a bug in the LaTeX exporter which exported a footnote, even if the footnote mark is deleted by another

Layout glitches when changing display in info panel
[Ed: same here]

Hang when clearing styles in a empty document
[Ed: and here]

Now only shows Trial expiry sheet once

Note: The edit menu on pre Snow Leopard (10.6) systems will show several greyed-out items, such as “Transformations”. These are exclusive to Snow Leopard, so there’s nothing to worry about. We tried to hide these from 10.5 and below, but it’s not worth the hassle, really.

So, there you have it. The update should be available as you read this via integrated update greateness.

2.0.3 will be the last update to Ulysses 2.0, unless we really screwed up something. The next release will already be 2.1, which will offer nothing new in terms of editing features, but will focus on data security, backup handling, as well as management of your projects. Oh, and iPhone/iPod touch syncing, of course.

Have fun!

Well, here we are. Ulysses 2.0 is finally out, and apart from a few early hickups with the store, everything seems to go rather smoothly. This may change, of course, once everybody comes rushing in, but so be it. We’re prepared. ;)

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everybdy involved with this rather stupid idea of taking a small software company and turning it around 180 degrees. Max and I had this vague concept, and while it took us far too long to make it happen, we’re very happy with where the Soulmen are today and glad everything worked out just the way it currently does.

Reboot.
Check.

So… first off, I’d like to thank Dirk for his great work and outstanding calm over last couple of weeks, trying to get all localizations ready for the launch of Ulysses 2.0. This is not an easy task, let me tell you, and it sure didn’t help that Max and I decided to juggle around vital parts of the interface at the last minute.

Then I’d like to thank Götz for both his tremendous work on the new help book and the series of screencasts. If we had to do these on our own, we would still be in pre-release limbo, or we would’ve shipped with the version 1.2 help and tiny featurett movie clips with Apple Loops as soundscape.

LAst not least, of course, Michael. Man of the exporters, or should I say — the exporter. Michael’s been around since… like… forever, and he has added a layer of constancy to this project, that *I* would never be able to provide (and neither could Max, but I can’t say that, he).

This project would NEVER be at this state without you.
So thanks a lot.

I’d also like to thank our friends, families, colleagues, kids (yeah), who’ve all suffered over the course of the past couple of months, but especially during the last weeks. Some more, some not so much, but we know. Without your continuing support and understanding, this — again — would not have been possible.

Now… it was hard, it was fun, it was crazy at times.
We feel it was worth it. Is. Will be.

This is just the beginning.
Hit me!

As we already announced yesterday, Ulysses 2.0 and Ulysses core 2.0 will be released on Wednesday, July 8. This Update hosts a tremendous list of features, refinements and polishes.

One change that we never spoke about and one that has not been brought up so far is the pricing. After six (!!!) years of free Updates, bringing Ulysses 1.0 to 1.6r2, we finally decided to do a paid update.

And we decided to make Ulysses cheaper. Not because we think it’s overpriced or not worth what we charge. It’s rather that we want to make it more affordable for many users. We don’t want people to choose a different application just because of the price.

As of July 8, 2009 this will be the new price tags:

Ulysses 2.0 full version EUR 44.99

Ulysses 2.0 educational EUR 34.99

Ulysses core 2.0 full version EUR 24.99

For all Users who purchased after January 1st, 2009 version 2.0 will be a free update. For all others there are two options:

Updating any version to Ulysses 2.0 full version EUR 24.99

Updating any version to Ulysses core 2.0 full version EUR 14.99

Dear readers,

Puh, these days are just packed. Laying finishing touches on some interface elements, squashing late bugs, collecting localizations, squashing new bugs, creating PR letters and product information pages, double-checking new Help content, the new registration system, squashing bugs, the new updater (works!), and finally moving every little bit over to SOULMEN CI.

Apart from standard pre-release craziness, you won’t believe how much blue-tec stuff has amassed over the years, and how much work it is to completely switch out company names and logos and colors and all… no going back, of course. :)

But not much time to blog-post, either.

So, release date. You want a release date? A fixed and firm release date? And a price tag? Standard price and update-fee? Like… Ulysses 2.0, available at the-soulmen.com, beginning… beginning… beginning, uhm, or rather starting at… at…
