Ulysses 2.0: How to modify style appearance?

    I'm a little confused about the new preferences layout in U2. Specifically, I don't see a way to set—on either a global or a per-mode basis—the styling or appearance for Paragraph Styles, Inline Styles, or Markers. For instance, right now both 'Hilight' and 'Rework' have no styling whatsoever for me (Erase seems to have better imported from 1.6r2); they just show up as normal text in all modes. Which makes them not very useful. But I don't see anywhere in either Fonts & Colors or Preferences where I can set the color, font, etc for any of these styles, which I believe was possible in 1.6. Am I confused?

    Yeah this took me a second too. It looks like the preference conversion did not pick up background highlight colour for any of the existing 1.6x styles. Highlights and "code blocks" were both back to black on white for me.

    Anyway, try double-clicking on any of the style lines in the Fonts & Colours. :)

    We have a new way of editing styles in U2. What you basically have to do ist to go to the Fonts&Colors, select the mode you're working in and - as Amber said - just double-click on it. Then there appears a little bar with all the possible settings.

    Why exactly all the styles were not transfered is a bit difficult to say. We have a conversion of the old settings to the new one, however they a re so fundamentally different (especially in the technical way) that some settings might not make it over. I hope this is not too bad for all.

    However, if you set them up once, we have this new nice feature to copy settings from a different project. Just press the Themes button in the upper left corner and choose "Import from Project" or so. This will show you the last opened projects - how convenient is that ?? ;-)

    Yeah, it wasn't obvious to me too how to change it. I literally panicked and then got frustrated. Only now and here do I find out that I need to double click. You should put it in text "Double click to edit style" or something like that, because my first reaction was to simply single click on the style, and that obviously didn't work.

    Anyway, great work on the new version. I'm off to test it. Nice to see "Changing Interface Mode" to be removed. That annoyed me. I need to use Ulysses again as it has been my rock in the past, and I hope 2.0 is everything I need right now. Can't wait for the iPhone version and have everything in my pocket. I desperately need that, because there isn't a great writing solution for that platform at this time, it seems.

    I agree with Timmy on this. I think the new style model is vastly superior to the older method, which required *so* much clicking about and was kind of confusing, but the double-click to reveal interface method is a little opaque. It might be easier for people to discover if there were a small button to the right or left (that could be replaced by the 'X' button if on the left) which revealed the style controls for each line.

    I think we actually had this in one of our beta versions, but somehow it was dropped. Dunno why :/ But actually it would not need such a button as soon as you know how to edit the entries, would it?

    Absolutely right, once you know the trick it's no problem to double click and there is no need for a button. The potentially hard part is figuring out you need to double click on what appears to be non-functional interface. It's a first-time problem (for people that don't read documentation), that's all.

    I was thinking something along those lines too, just forgot to type it in. :) I think that would work well and it wouldn't clutter up the interface with lots of buttons.

    Yep, I remember now. That exactly was the reason for us to remove the buttons again, because you had so many of them...
