    after having survived a bigger project with word I get again interested in Ulysses.

    My main concern is the following: because I have to pass my texts to other people in doc- or rtf-format I miss the feature to give the "real" formatting to my rtf-files. What I mean is this. When I export to rtf I get my headings in 14pt Helvetica bold. But what I want to get is the formatting "heading 1".

    My workaround now is to open that stuff in Word, copy it to a new file (with is associated with my default .dot-file), find the lines with 14pt Helvetica bold and assign the "heading 1"-style to that lines, because it doesn't look professional to give my colleagues texts without "real styles". I also use Nisus which associates styles to rtf-files. So it must be in some way possible for Ulysses to pass styles through the exporter into rtf-files.

    Is this already implemented into Uylsses and i miss something or will it be implemented later?

    It's currently not possible in Ulysses, but we have it on our list.

    I am not too sure whether it's possible at all. As far as I know, RTF does not support styles directly. It might well be that Nisus adds a custom extension to the format. But what I am 100% sure about is that the Mac OS-delivered rtf support does not include it.

    Doesn't word recognize things like "14pt Helvetica bold" automatically as a style? I recently had Ulysses export some text for me and was able to convert all "Italics" formats to a predefined style with a few clicks.

    @max:
    If I read the rtf-specifications correctly, styles are directly supported in rtf. At least word and nisus both understand rtf-styles. I cannot provide a direct link to the 1.9 specifictions, but under the following link you can find the stylesheet description in the 1.5 specification: http://www.biblioscape.com/rtf15_spec.htm#Heading17

    Word doesn't recognize "14pt Helvetica bold" automatically as a style. It's easy to write a macro for nisus, to tidy a file up. The word 2008 scripting is a big secret to me. I think it will be possible to figure out something "macro like" for word. But *because* rtf knows sylesheets and we all specify formattings in ulysses, the easiest way would be that ulysses exports "correctly" .

    @dirk: "Correctly" is in quotes because having not implemented something into a software is *not* wrong. You do a great job with ulysses. I hope you will implement that feature soon. It will make life easier.

    Interesting. We'll investigate this.
