    Hello,

I have the full version of iWork Pages, and I noticed that when I would export as rtf and then open in Pages, none of the footnotes would show up!

Now, I thought that I was formatting the footnotes incorrectly for a while, and I checked everything. Then I downloaded Mellel and Nisus Pro to see if the problem was with Pages itself, and lo and behold, both Mellel and Nisus Pro were able to read the footnotes (they appeared in Mellel, though styled in a strange manner, and they appeared perfectly in Nisus Pro right off the bat)!

When I was trying out Scrivever, I didn't have this problem, but I much prefer Ulysses of course. Does anyone know why I am having this problem? Does Pages require rtfd (and not just rtf format) to read the footnotes? Can I export an rtfd with attachments and not just an rtf with Ulysses?

I was hoping to just keep using the planned "Ulysses > Pages" workflow, but it looks like I might have to replace Pages with Nisus Pro if I can't figure this out.

    Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, Pages (and TextEdit) does not follow the RTF specification about footnotes and there's not much we can do about this :( All we can suggest is using Mellel or Nisus and hoping Apple at some time includes RTF footnote support.

So I currently have both Nisus and Pages. When I export the rtf, pages doesn't give me footnotes and instead inserts the note into the next, bracketing each note with ">fn<" at the beginning and the end.

However, this is the same thing that happens when I use Nisus (currently uses version 1.4.2).

However, when I export instead to pdf (instead of rtf), the footnotes work perfectly fine. What am I doing wrong?

I currently cannot reproduce this with neither Nisus 2.0.2 nor 1.4.2 – could you please send us a Ulysses Project this is happening with to support@the-soulmen.com?
