I have been looking for software to replace an old OS 9 program that I've been using, and Ulysses is looking very intriguing. Now, I realize I may be messing with a set aesthetic (and the yellow text is nice) but I'm wondering if it is possible to change the text color when in console mode... say to CRT green? I haven't purchased the application yet so it's currently running in demo mode, and I'm thinking that perhaps I'm currently locked out from some of the program's functionality. Not a deal-breaker, but I'm curious...

Have a look at the main menu -> Ulysses -> Fonts & Colors... (or press Command-Option-,)

Thanks for the tip! Yes, I have looked there... but all the text controls specific to the "console mode" tab don't seem to have any effect on the text when I switch over to console mode. Tis why I suspect it's a function crippled until I purchase the software. Or maybe the text color in console mode reflects the status of the text in standard mode, and so the color is locked. On the webpage that has some small screenshots from the program, I can see various colors for the text in Console Mode, so something must be up vis-a-vis text color. Hoping to hear from a Soulman!

Changing the text color in Ulysses > Fonts & Colors should actually do the trick, no matter if you're in trial mode or not. If you tick the checkbox for "Use Styles from Standard Mode", though, the Console Mode uses the colors from Standard Mode.

Hmmm... Went looking to attempt your adjustment. Still no success. The pull down menu next to "Use Styles from Standard Mode" checkbox is greyed out - both when the checkbox is selected or deselected - and there is no text that says "standard mode". It's blank. Also, all the color palate selectors are blue, so even if I change the color for text in console mode, it doesn't change when I actually go into console mode. The feature just doesn't seem to be working for me. Apologies... I forgot to add - and maybe this is part of my trouble - that I'm currently running the program on a PowerPC imac and OS X Tiger (till my new MBP arrives today, huzzah!) Could this be part of my trouble?

Yes, I think this might be the cause for all of this. Ulysses 2.0 uses a few features that are only available with MacOS 10.5 and upwards so you could either update your iMac to Leopard or wait for your new MBP.

Ah ha... thought so. I'm counting the minutes to a new computer. I'll let you know if that does the trick. Thanks for the help!
