Ulysses 2.0: iPad Notebooks text files not correctly imported

    I have a problem with plain text files created in Notebooks on iPad. If these contain characters like é, ü, etc. they are not imported correctly.

    I think maybe Ulysses doesn't see the text encoding correctly. Notebooks on iPad are supposed to be UTF-8 encoded text files. So it should not be a problem.

    Hm... strange. How do you import these files? Dropbox, iTunes sync? Will they open fine in Textedit? How about the other way around -- do files created in Ulysses open fine in Notebooks?

    (On a sidenote, and not meant as a rant against Notebooks in particular, but boy do I hate apps with names like that. It may be a language issue, and I know Apple is encouraging the use of such names, but it's so very confusing to talk about notebooks created in Notebooks, when they could've easily called it SchmidNotes or such... argh, never mind.)

    Doesn't matter how I import, via iTunes (PadSync) and MobileMe, Ulysses doesn't recognize the correct file encoding. TextEdit will only import correctly if in the TextEdit Preferences I choose Unicode (UTF-8) encoding when opening files. If I choose automatic, it does not choose the correct file encoding.

    This problem also occurs with plain text files created in Hog Bay PlainText for iPad. The file encoding is simply not recognized correctly in Ulysses, and also in TextEdit. But text files created in iA Writer for iPad are recognized correctly.

    It's not easy to recognize the correct file encoding, because it's not stored in a plain text file. The best way to solve this problem is, allowing the user to select the encoding for the import.
