    is there a way to get 2 columns in standard view? or is there a way to write a plug-in that would allow this?

    What exactly do you mean by "2 columns in standard view"?
    You can disable the left "column" (Browser and Preview panels) and the right "column" (Notes and Document Info) using the "View" menu.

    thanks for the quick response, i realize i didn't explain what i meant very well;)

    I am looking for a way for the text in the middle section (the main writing section) in standard view to be displayed in 2 columns so i can see more text on the page at once. I am a lyricist and i would be extremely useful to be able to see all the verses at once.
