Nearly two years ago already one of the Ulysses developers mentioned that they had a great idea for doing tables. May I ask, is this in the cards for a Ulysses 2 update? I find that this is the one really major feature that's still missing. I hope we won't have to wait for 3.0 for tables... or if so, I hope 3.0 will be released soon enough!

    Kind regards,

We had some ideas about how to deal with tables, but they all either required to commit to a specific output format or to a specific set of tags (and being tables, tf would mean lots of specific tags), so we put that feature on hold for the time being.

I can't tell you more about it; I'd like to, but I'd also rather be honest than to get your hopes up. There's nothing to announce right now regarding tables, and even though we might include it in the HTML exporter at some point, I can't see that happening in the very near future or even crossing over to RTF or LaTeX or such.

For LaTeX: why not create the tables in say Textmate (or a LaTeX editor) and copy them in before import? Can't you add markup codes to the document and then export them? What do the people using formulas do for this?

For RTF, DOC, etc… I think you are better off FORMATTING ILLUSTRATIONS (thats what tables are) in a Page Layout program than in an text editor. Seems to defeat the purpose of the program, to me. Tool for the job.
