Hi. I've been using Ulysses for awhile, but finally dived into semantic editing and exporting. A little hand-holding would be appreciated.

I use Ulysses in fiction writing. I've added an "internal dialogue" style which becomes italic on export. Within the internal dialogue sometimes parts are emphasized. Normally, I want emphasized text to be italic on export, but when it's within internal dialogue it should be normal to show emphasis versus the rest of the text that's in italics. (i.e. emphasis.italic? = !normal.italic?)

I can add an additional "internal dialogue emphasis" style pretty easily, but I'm wondering if there is a way to conditionally apply formatting on export depending on the 'parent' tag. AFAICT there isn't, but I thought I'd ask anyway. If not, would be a nice feature for future releases (hint, hint).

Or is there some other way I should handle this?

Hm, nice idea, but I'm not sure how to implement it in a sensible way. See, we'd rather simplify settings, especially with tags and export, than to add another layer of configuration hell… hm.

I'll put it on the list for the next version, though, since it really is a great idea, and you got me thinking here. :)

Yeah, I realize I'm pretty much suggesting letting people create a custom markup language. :) Thanks for listening.
