Ulysses 2.0: Can't launch Ulysses! :(

    Hello,

    I have a big problem – after buying this app I can't launch it. Please, look at this video: http://cl.ly/AakA

    It's only "Loading settings" and nothing more.

    I don't know where is a problem, because demo version was working well. :(

    I was trying to reinstall Ulysses, but without succsess.

    Please, can you help me???

    I'd try deleting Ulysses and renaming /Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/Ulysses to say Ulysses.bak, then reinstalling and trying again.

    Sorry, seems to not working. I don't have any Ulysses folder in my Library/Application Support/. :(

    As far as I know, those are the only two places it stores files. But I don't have the app store version.

    What does "Nacitaji se predvolby" mean in English?

    Is Ulysses set to open the last file you had open? If it is, maybe there is a problem with the file. Move the file temporarily and try again.

    There are some files in ~/Library/Containers/ that you can try moving away. They are regenerated by Ulysses when it starts, so it should be safe.

    The folder ~/Library/Containers is hidden in Lion. I was able to easily show hidden files using Tinkertool.

    Hey Rene, you could try this: Navigate to ~/Library/Containers and move com.soulmen.ulysses2 to your desktop. This is the sandbox for the beta version, and it conflicts with the release version. Then relaunch Ulysses, and it should be fine.

    Library is hidden by default on OS X Lion now, but you can easily get to it by holding down the Alt key and selecting "Go › Library" from the Finder's menu.

    Hey guys, thank you for your comments, but I don't have "Containers" folder in my Library (even with Tinkertool). :(

    "Nacitaji se predvolby" means "Loading settings" and I can't change settings, because I can't launch Ulysses.

    I really don't know where is a problem...

    Please, do you have another idea?

    If there is no Containers tool, the same applies to some files in ~/Library/Preferences. Please move all files beginning with com.soulmen to your Desktop and try if Ulysses starts then. It would also be helpful to have any console output during the opening process. You can find it with Console.app from Applications > Utilities.

    Hello Rene, sorry for having you suffer so long. From the log I can tell that this is definitely a preferences problem. From your video I guess that you are running the Mac App Store version of Ulysses 2.1. So the preferences reside in the following folder:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.soulmen.ulysses2/Data/Library/Preferences/

    You can open it from the Finder by selecting the "Go…" menu and then "Go to Folder…". Then please copy and paste the path into the text field. A folder should open and you should see a file called

    com.soulmen.ulysses2.plist

    Please delete this file and try to launch Ulysses again. I hope this finally helps. Sorry again for the delay!
