Just got Daedalus and its great, best text editor for iPad I've tried so far. Couple of things that could be added to make it even better:
    - could the margins be a user setting so that I could slide to make them wider (maybe globally in the preferences or stack wide say)
    - could I have the feature to add more special buttons and then customise them? (Apologies if this is already present and I am just too thick to have noticed).
Still, like I said, great software and a pleasure to use..

    Hi Geezer,

margins: We've set the margins so the text widgh stays fixed whether you're in portrait or landscape mode. So... no setting, sorry.

Keys: You can tap'n'hold a key to edit it, add keys, etc. Does this help?

Hi thanks for answering. Ok I suppose the centring thing has to be to keep the app working Jin portrait and landscape but with the keys, I like them as they are, I just want more of them than the seven I have on screen - there's lots of horizontal space to fill up and another group of three or four would still leave some space so that things wouldn't be too crowded, certainly in Landscape mode (which is what I use all the time) but also even in portrait mode as well.
    Any dice?

You can add more buttons to the button row just as Marcus (fehnman) suggested: Tap'n'hold a key, then click Edit, then you will see + symbols next to the already existing keys to add new keys.

Er no, I don't think that's right. If I tap and hold down on a button, I can edit it and choose to have it display a different character from a list (which I can also edit) all of which is great. All I want beyond this is a few more instances of such buttons on the horizontal additional keyboard block.
I just checked it again and if I tap and hold,Ii get the pop up menu, not another button instance. Hope this makes it clear what I am asking for..

Just tap on Edit in that pop up menu, then the + buttons to add new keys will appear.

    Hello everybody
I'm a writer and my favorite app on The iPad is Daedalus Touch.
Works like a charm with Scrivener!
We're talking about margins here and I would like to suggest that for me the white spaces at left and right are too big. Stealing space to the text.
Before Daedalus I've used iAWriter, annoter good app but not as yours
iA has smaller margins and the roadability is better, but this is only a personal consideration.
My wish? Smaller white areas at the sides

Hi norbu56, and thanks for the kind words and suggestions. We've looked at various options, and we think that we've hit the right one with the way we're handling the transition from portrait to landscape. We keep the text flow AND the text size, so navigation and orientation within your text is fixed. White space is added, obviously, to the margins, but this not only increases the hit target for character/word navigation (tapping in the margins) -- it also increases readability as opposed to, say, text that runs from border to border (in landscape).

If I may comment n iAWriter's way: They also keep the text flow, but they enlarge the text in order to do so, thus limiting the amount of visible text even further when in landscape mode, which means more scrolling etc.

One could argue either way, I guess, but we currently have no plans of changing the behaviour here.
