    Hello,

    I believe I've discovered a bug in Web Export (Ulysses 2.1): Images are only exported once per document. If an image tag is reused within the document, only the first instance is exported as a graphic.

    Interestingly, the exporter does the following, as an example:

    <p>Image 1</p>
    <img src="image-files/image_1.png" />

    <p>Image 2</p>
    <img src="image-files/image_2.png" />

    <p>Image 3</p>
    <img src="image-files/image_3.png" />

    <p>Image 1</p>

    <p>Image 2</p>

    <p>Image 4</p>
    <img src="image-files/image_4.png" />

    In this example, images 1 and 2 were reused, and there are two bugs: The images themselves are not exported the second time, and images are not sequentially numbered (they should be Images, 4, 5 and 6 rather than 1, 2 and 4).

    Hope this helps,

    Albert

    It's not a bug, it's a feature ;)
    No, really, this is how we wanted it to be like. Just like in an article (e.g., a scientific paper), images are referenced in the text, often in parentheses: (see Image 4) and images only appear once, not matter how often they are referenced in the text. Usually, you don't want to include an image more than once in the text, you want to include them once and reference them.

    Hi Götz,

    Thanks for your helpful explanation. I understand how it is useful in some contexts, but not in others. Would it be possible to change this behavior in an update, or to have the option to do so?

    Here's a simple example of the need to reuse images:

    http://www.key-notes.com/c-chord.html

    Here, I reuse the first two images later on the page, for clarity.

    The current export behavior will prevent me from being able to export, say, PDFs. The best I can do is export to LaTeX, then try to remember the articles that use duplicate images, then manually edit those places in the .tex file, and finally export to PDF. Needless to say, this is a cumbersome and untenable workaround. Could you consider adding this option?

    Many thanks,

    Albert
