    so I figured out how to import a document into a Ulysses project. But then I got stuck. What I would like to do is to update this document on my hard disk, not just within the Ulysses project. Is there an option to do so, i.e. importing the doc, changing it and get this change reflected in the original document on my disk?

    No, this is not possible. Ulysses does not work on single or multiple documents but creates projects where it stores all data inside. What you can do is to copy& paste or export it out of the application.
