General: Ulyesses not saving, anything **FIXED**

    Snow Leopard did not populate the "recent items" list for any application, which also affected Ulysses’ ability to save changes to projects. Once I fixed the "recent items" bug, Ulysses started saving again. Here’s how

    Find com.apple.recentitems.plist in your ~/Library folder, delete it, then reboot.

    I am interested to hear other thoughts on this.

    Ah, thanks. We have been looking into this and thought it might be somehow related, however, we were not able to reproduce it as our recentitems.plist seemed okay. I am sure this will fix issues for several users.

    I think udating to 10.6.1 should solve your problems. :)

    No, I am on 10.6.1. The Rescent Items only work under the "Apple" at the Menubar. In all other Applications like Pages, TextEdit and Ulysses they don't.

    Did you try the fix from the discussion mentioned above?

    "First I deleted the "com.apple.recentitems.plist" file and checked the applications if the "Open Recent" menu was populated. It was still empty. "Then I deleted the "com.apple.recentitems.plist" file again and rebooted the computer right away. That solved the problem.

    And: "so the full path is: ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist

    Yes I try, but it didn't solve the problem. I create a new user with admin permissions and after I log on with the new user everything works. Then I copy the com.apple.recentitems.plist to the old user <olduser>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist. But this didn't work either. Any othe hints?

    I suppose that my problem is not a problem with the com.apple.recentitems.plist.

    Hmm. Just try to simply delete it in your current Account. Copying it from somewhere else may result in file permission problems. I think recent items are not too worthile that you couldn't just delete the file. It'll be re-created automatically then.

    Hi Max,

    Well, that is best practice to use .plist files from a fresh created user (with a new user account it works). Btw. it doesn't work either for my current account. Deleting the com.apple.recentitems.plist doesn't work, I try it several times. The rescent items are listed when I use the Finder (under the Apple Logo at the menu bar) but not under severel applications (e.g. not in Pages, Keynote and Ulysses, but it work under TextEdit and the MS Office Apps). I supose again that this is not a problem with the com.apple.recentitems.plist. I didn't find any informations on the apple support website. So I think that is not a problem from Ulysses, maybe there went something wrong with my update from 10.5.8 to 10.6 and then to 10.6.1. If there are no other helpful hints from you guys, I will try to reinstall my Mac with a fresh 10.6.1 installation. Last question, I use the unregistred version of Ulysses. Are there any restrictions with this try out version?

    Did you try to delete it and then reboot immeditelly? (I guess you did, just to make sure). The thing with Ulysses not saving is a mix of the recent items thing and a Ulysses-related issue. We'll fix that in the upcoming version 2.1.

    If you are using the trial license (not demo mode) then there are absolutely no restrictions except the 60 day limit.

    Ok, I use the trial license. So I wait for 2.1 maybe you implement the missing features like tables, lists and maybe a better image support for svg / eps files. Than the application is perfect (for me). So far I use my Latex stuff. Have you a timeline for releasing the 2.1 Version?

    Ulysses 2.1 is scheduled for october. We hope to release it close to the iPhone version. But to be honest, 2.1 probably won't bring any of your expected features. Those are scheduled for a ulysses 2.2 version - which will hopefully be released next year.

    Another suggestion on how to fix the problem: Change the "Number of recent items" for Documents in System Preferences > Appearance to a value different from 0 or the current one.

    Tables and images..personally, and thats a personal preffrence, i hope Ulysses wont get bloated..content,meaning,cleaness..keywords..
